Meet Nevah: Inside the Digital World of a 13-Year-Old Girl

This experiment shows what a 13-year-old sees online with a brand-new phone and default settings and how fast platforms shape her experience.

Parents today hear a lot about what’s happening to kids online.

From predators and mental health struggles to dangerous trends and algorithms designed to keep kids hooked, the headlines are constant and alarming. But most parents still don’t know what their kids are actually seeing when they open their phone.

And despite all the headlines, there are very few places showing parents exactly how to set up safety features or offering a supportive community of other parents navigating this ever- changing digital world together.

That’s why we created Haven.

Our mission is to guard the hearts and minds of the next generation by simplifying online safety for parents. We do that with step-by-step video tutorials, real time updates, monthly webinars, and an active parent community.  Instead of relying on headlines, we believed it would be far more effective to show parents exactly the content and people kids are exposed to online.

That’s where Nevah comes in.

Nevah (Haven spelled backwards) is a 13-year-old fictional girl our team created using AI who just got a brand new iPhone.  The phone has no search history, no previous data, and no contacts. It’s set up exactly like millions of kids’ phones are today, using default settings for her age.

Nevah is joining the most popular social media, video game, and AI platforms used by kids around the world. We are documenting what content appears, how quickly it shows up, and how these platforms begin shaping a teenage user’s experience from day one.

Nothing is staged or forced. We have no idea what is going to happen.

Follow along. Talk with your kids.  Share this with other parents who need to see it.

You don’t have to navigate this alone.

TLDR:

We created Nevah, a fictional 13-year-old girl with a brand-new iPhone set up using default settings, to show parents what kids are actually exposed to online from day one. Through this real-world experiment, Haven reveals the content, people, and algorithms shaping kids’ digital lives and gives parents simple tools, guidance, and community to protect their children online.
